Undoubtedly, a few of them will find my toes and abandon my
lap for this new attraction. Where's my shoes?  They don't
realize how sharp their baby teeth are, and are just playing.
They don't mean anything by it, they just haven't learned their
manners yet.  With time and instruction, they will understand
that they are not allowed to do that.  As they play with each
other, one of their siblings will give a sharp nip to another, and
cause it to yelp. This way, they also teach each other that it
hurts, and not to play so hard.

6 WEEKS OLD:
Picture 1 and 2
other day and since I
was doing some
gardening in the
backyard, it was a
perfect time to let the
puppies experience the
outdoor life.
I put them all in this
totally enclosed x-pen
and had them spend the
afternoon soaking in the
sun and being exposed
to the outside noises.
At times they were not
too happy and would
start barking to get out,
but all in all, they did
very well in this new
strange environment.
They actually spent
most of the afternoon
sleeping.  Young
puppies spend about
70% of their time
sleeping.
This week they have not played so rough that I had to intervene, but next week will be different. There will be much more
roughhousing with each other,  and I will have to step in at times, to keep them from overdoing it.
The real challenge to me this week was to make sure they did not escape from the whelping box.  They are a determined
bunch, who have had it with this confinement thingy and are exercising their climbing skills, in their quest to reach the summit
of
Mt. Whelping Box and explore the world beyond...  Therefore, it was time for me to raise the barricades of the box so they
could no longer escape. It is harder for Brazin to get in and out of the box to be with them, but she manages and actually only
stays for very short visits each time.
my other dogs nearby, and got to hear many different sounds of airplanes, birds, cars, lawn mowers, and other dogs barking.
It was a very beneficial time for them in there continuing socialization.  When it was time to go back into the house, I gave each
a chance to run loose in the grass.  They loved it, and so did I watching them romp around.  That was, until they discovered
my feet.  Ouch!
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU VIEW THE PICTURES IN THE ROTATING FRAME, FOUND AFTER THE PUPS INDIVIDUAL PORTRAITS.
There is nothing more fun
than going into the whelping
box and letting all the pups
come up on my lap to give
me a kiss, or just cuddle.

The puppies are raring
to get out and start their
wonderful journey with
their new families.
Well, they think they
are ready, but, sorry
guys, not quite yet.
They still have 2 more
weeks to go, and they
will be very busy weeks
for them and me.

*******
In these pictures you
see the pups all lined
up. You can actually
almost see all of their
faces.  Believe me, this
was no easy task.
After literally hundreds
of similar shots over the
past week, these are
the best of them.  The
puppies are just to
active now to get all 10
in line and  looking up
at the same time. But
photography aside,
them being so active  is
a
good thing.
