REILLY
puppies
.
.
.
As my husband and I were
getting the whelping box set
up, for the puppies arrival,
Reilly decided to check
things out.
Being familiar from past births
with the incubator for the
pups, she went to see where
they were.
Reilly turned to me with a
surprised expression on her
face.  It was as if she was
asking  me,
"What happened
to my pups?
I managed to get her to relax in
the family room with her sisters
and eventually we all went to
sleep. I was next to her on the
couch and her leash was tightly
wrapped around my arm,
in case she started to stir.
To my shock and
amazement, I was suddenly
jarred awake by my dog
Brazin. She jumped on top
of me on the couch. In a
sleepy daze, I pushed her
off telling her it was too
early to go out, when I
realized that Reilly quietly,
without even a budge or
sound, delivered her first
pup right where she was.
Thank you Brazin for
waking me up to tell me.
Look closely and you can
see her nursing pup's tail
and foot.
puppy number 2, made his appearance right  in the
crowded basket.   I quickly grabbed the 2nd pup
before mom could accidently hurt him, only to find
Reilly was so  reluctent to leave the box that I had to
very carefully lift her up and out of the basket in order
to get her settled in the whelping area, where she
should have been in the first place. lol
With all her pups delivered, Reilly takes  few
minutes deserved rest before she continues on
her 8 week journey in motherhood.

I quickly took her
by her leash with
one hand carrying
the newborn in
the other, lead
her into the living
room to get her
to the birthing
area.  Reilly was
having none of it.
Insisting that she
wanted to be in
the basket,
because that's
where the pups
have been in the
past, she quickly
jumped in.    I
rushed to lay the
newborn in a safe
area so I could
then coax Reilly
out of the box,
